Dr. Maciej Kulisz: Some paintings by Agnieszka Paluch are „dark”
„Some of Agnieszka Paluch’s paintings are 'dark,’ yet this darkness is never definitive. It doesn’t put an end to the narrative; rather, it evokes a warmth reminiscent of Christmas Eve—a time filled with anticipation, where time itself doesn’t cease. This sense of ongoing narrative opens a window to matters more complex than contemporary painting itself,” says Dr. Maciej Kulisz, art historian.
„In her works, Paluch strongly focuses on color, its aesthetic and symbolic values rather than on dynamic brush movements, like Jackson Pollock’s expressive paint 'splashes’ that symbolized the era of 'the airplane, atomic bomb, or radio.’ Paluch doesn’t merely vent on canvas; she searches and shares her experiences,” summarizes Dr. Kulisz.
Who is the „spiritual person” according to Agnieszka Paluch?
„The spiritual person understands that love is most important,” says Agnieszka Paluch, creator of the „Spiritual Person” exhibition at the Wieża Gallery. „Such a person is inwardly open yet fully conscious of the external world. The spiritual person constantly battles personal weaknesses, daily choosing between good and evil. They grapple with their physical nature, which draws them to worldly things. Knowing they cannot achieve anything alone, they realize all things are possible with Christ. The spiritual person trusts God, feeling gratitude, aware they become spiritual through grace,” explains Paluch.
When and where can the exhibition „The Spiritual Person” be visited?
The opening of Agnieszka Paluch’s exhibition of paintings and collages, „The Spiritual Person,” will take place on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Wieża Gallery (Church of the Ascension, 101 al. Komisji Edukacji Narodowej, Warsaw).
